A month ago, Truffle Hunter reported on a planned weekend away into the Sibilini Mountain National Park in Central Italy on the weekend of the 19th November. The trip was set to include gourmet meals all weekend, a truffle hunting expedition into the beautiful forests with Nando, our resident expert, wine tastings, cooking classes and stunning accommodation in a remote Italian village in the countryside. Well, our intrepid truffle hunters are back and had only rave reviews for their fantastic gourmet holiday!
The Truffle Hunting weekend away was blessed with weather that was perfect for all the treats planned. The venture into the forests to find truffles yielded buried treasure and people watched in excitement as Nando’s dogs unearthed some small to medium-sized truffles in addition to two large white truffles. Everyone made the most of Nando’s decades of experience as a truffle hunter and walked away veritable encyclopedias on the topic! The walk itself was incredibly scenic with breath-taking views of the mountains.
Every meal was an escape into gastronomical heaven, with truffles of course taking centre stage! The cooking class was greatly enjoyed and added immensely to our truffle hunter’s repertoire! In fact, it was so successful, that we’ve decided to add another for the benefit of future holidays. The wine tastings were also fantastic with the offerings of the region greatly appreciated by one and all.
All in all, the Truffle Hunter weekend away was an incredible experience and certainly one to never be forgotten. In spite of its success, we made careful note of the small things we want to tune for our future holidays so that our patrons can enjoy complete perfection. The Truffle Hunting holiday was a fantastic success so it’s only a matter of time before we plan another gastronomical experience into the beautiful Central Italian wilderness. Stay tuned!
